So, I ask the Kentucky Department of Revenue this question via their web portal:
"Why is there a sales tax on clothing when clothing is a necessity?"
Their response:
Kentucky sales and use tax law does not contain an exemption for clothing. It is recommended that you discuss with your legislators if you believe an exemption for clothing is a necessity.

My response:
Which Legislators, please? If they do not consider clothing a necessity then according to the Kentucky Department of Revenue we could all go unclothed (naked) in public and that would be not only acceptable and preferable but legal? We, the general public, are, after all, trying to shave costs wherever we can - this would be a great help to keep our budgets in check if that is correct. Please advise.

His reponse:
Here is a link to the state legislators and their contact information.
You will have a state representative and state senator that represents your voting district. The Department of Revenue administers the laws passed by state government. If you would like to change the law, you need to address your concerns with your legislators.

My response:
Last question, I promise.
In your honest opinion do you believe one person has that much power of persuasion to do this?
Thank you for your time and response, Mr. Haven.
